"What is Tanabata?"

The legend states that long ago there was a seamstress by the name of Orihime who weaved the most beautiful clothes that shone like the stars as she sat by the Heavenly River. Her father, the Lord of the Heavens, noticed how tirelessly that his poor daughter worked sewing her clothes. It began to take a toll on her emotionally, and so he had divised a plan for her to meet with a cow herder named Hikoboshi. It was love at first sight for the two of them. Their love was so deep and true that they began to neglect their duties and only focused on each other. Orihime stopped weaving. Hikoboshi neglected his cows, allowing them to wander aimlessly into the Heavens. The Lord of the Heavens was enraged by his daughter's thoughtlessness and Hikoboshi's carelessness, and so he split them apart by forcing them to opposite sides of the Milky Way.Though this, of course, did not help. Orihime begged her father to allow them to be together, which he originally forbade. Hikoboshi became so depressed that his livestock suffered. Orihime continued to weave, but the clothes were lifeless and uninspired. Eventually, the Lord of the Heavens felt sorrow for the two. He loved his daughter very much, and Hikoboshi was always good to him.Eventually, he agreed to allow them to meet on the 7th day of the 7th moon, but only then.Just as Orihime and Hikoboshi's wishes to meet again were granted, we Spoken offer our wishes to the lovers in celebration. Colorful slips of paper called tanzaku are written upon in charcoal and tied to bamboo trees, delivering our strongest wishes up to the stars. We also honor the star-crossed lovers by indulging in food and festival games. Many Spoken like to spend Tanabata with their lovers as it is a celebration of the most famous celestial lovers in Hingan history. Be it on a romantic stroll through the bamboo forests decorated with color tanzaku paper or winning prizes for your darling, there's plenty to do.Won't you come join us?

Goldfish Scooping

Two attendants of Kakushiken-jinja are running a time-honored staple of any festival, Kingyo-sukui — or Goldfish Scooping. Before you is a kiddie pool filled with little goldfish swimming about. The object of this game is to use a thin paper net to catch as many fish as you can without tearing the net. Take care, though — those nets are fragile!

Participation is 100 gil* per person. Upon starting, the player will do a /random 100 roll to determine whether or not they scoop any fish at all. The thresh-holds are as follows:

1 - 49: Your paper net breaks and all of the fish you have scooped break free! Unfortunately, you won't be going home with any goldfish. Maybe you could try again?
50 - 74: Your paper net holds relatively steady and you manage to scoop out a single fish. It's an average, run-of-the-mill Copperfish.
75 - 84: Your skill and care nets you a sturdier paper net than average. You manage to fish out a few fish, one of which is a silly-looking Bubble Eye.
85 - 94: You are a little too good at this. Somehow, you manage to scoop several fish and your paper net seems to be in tip-top shape. The most notable of your haul is a Doman Bubble Eye staring up at you with its big ol' eyes.
95 - 100: You must have been a Goldfish Scooping savant in a past life. With ease and dexterity previously unheard of, you manage to scoop up so many fish. Someone should erect a statue of you holding up your new Domakin in a bag. You've won the grand prize!

* IC gil only. Feel free to tip the stall runners if you like them, though!

Prizes

Copperfish
Bubble Eye
Doman Bubble Eye
Domakin (minion)

Pachinko

What stands before you is a contraption of home made quality. Bright lights and funny little chirps and blips all distract from the true function of the machine. 'Catchinko' or better known as Pachinko is a game all about luck, you have three balls and four goal boxes.

Drop a ball from the top of the machine and watch as it runs through a course of buffers and pins to fall into one of the 4 points boxes at the bottom.

Participation is 100 gil*, upon starting the player will be asked to roll /random 100 three times. This can be done all at once or over a period of RP posts as these random rolls will indicate where the given ball is dropped in the machine.

Please note that due to limited prizes we can only accept one play per person as each play guarantee's a prize of some kind.

The goal boxes are divided as so:

0 - 25
26 - 50
51 - 75
76 - 100

When all 3 rolls are cast the total will indicate what level of prize the player will have won.

0 -140: Flower accessory
141 - 290: Minion
291 - 300: Mount or clothing item

* IC gil only. Feel free to tip the stall runners if you like them, though!
